15317 Corcubión - A Coruña

At the entrance to the village of Corcubión, on Avenida da Constitución, we can see a beautiful view of the estuary of Corcubión from Ramón Pais’ Viewpoint, the name of the man who was mayor of Corcubión between 1959 and 1979 and to whom this viewpoint was dedicated because of the role he played throughout his life.

If we move towards the town, next to Praza de Castelao (Castelao Square) we will find Benigno Lago’s Viewpoint, inaugurated in 1981 and characterised by a long bank of tiles. This viewpoint was built in his honour because he was the one who contributed to the restoration of this area, financing the civil work that served to fill in the sea water that until then had flowed into the area. This man was a native of Corcubión and, like many others in his time, after getting married he emigrated to Argentina in 1920, where his family continued to grow. He also lived in Peru and in both countries he made a good fortune through the mining of mica mines and the fishing industry. Already in the 1950s he decided to return to Galicia and invest part of his funds in the progress of his home town. This action made Corcubión one of the first town halls in the province to have potable water.

From these two viewpoints you can see a beautiful view of the estuary and the port of Corcubión.
